The Nutrient Problem

Phosphorus and Nitrogen are common constituents of agricultural fertilizers, manure, and organic wastes in sewage and industrial effluent. They are essential elements for plant life, but when the nutrient levels are too high, toxic algae, fish kills, loss of recreational use and general eutrophication result.
